June
3rd - Little Pink
Mary got her first cowgirl outfit at the age of five. Eventually, she became a newspaper reporter, and then a foreign correspondent. After witnessing many hardships and times of war, she began songs. Songs are an interesting form -- more allowing than newsprint, but with their own mysterious internal deadlines. Back in Maryland, Mary gravitated to Washington DC's alt.country scene. Mary continues to write, and performs regularly with the band and also on her own, at venues and showcases from Arlington to Austin. For more information, visit www.littlepinktheband.com.
4th - Mark McKay
Mark McKay writes rugged, honest songs in the tradition of rootsy rock’n roll; his work has been compared to that of Alejandro Escovedo, Cracker’s David Lowry, and a Nebraska-era Bruce Springsteen. Mark performs nationally in some of America’s finest little rock rooms, including Iota in Arlington, VA, the Ram’s Head Tavern in Annapolis and Fletcher’s in Baltimore, as well as in NYC, Boston, and Chicago. Since releasing his first record under the Myracle Brah moniker in 1998, Andy Bopp has firmly established himself as one of the finest talents in the contemporary pop underground, writing great songs and playing them with skill, passion, and a keen understanding of what makes this stuff work...
Bopp doesn't mind letting anger and anxiety share the stage with the usual pure pop themes of love (good) and love (bad)." For more info check out www.myspace.com/andybopprock.
